I was watching TV and a show about the Antikythera machine shows up. It's funny that this show appeared since I have watched a video not so long ago about this machine.

The show is about a long lost machine that sponge divers found on the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea. The machine was retrieved along with other Greek and Roman treasures. After discovering the machine, people began to research what it can do. Eventually the some people found some answers and pieced the puzzles together.

They discovered that the teeth gears on the machine may give clues as to how it works. This machine may be the world's first computer discovered so far. It was also discovered that the machine have been built to predict the moon, planets, sun, eclipses, and astronomical cycle. Although this machine is highly advanced for the time period in which it was thought to originated, most people think that the Greek mathematician Archimedes may have been the person whom designed the Antikythera.

The most interesting fact I found about the Antikythera is that this advanced and precise machine is small enough to fit inside a portable wooden box; similar to our laptops that can storage complex information. Besides reading about the Antikythera on this blog, you may want to watch the video below for more in-depth overview of the machine.
